Materials are classified into grades according to retained dirt content, ash content, volatile matter content, nitrogen content, initial plasticity, plasticity retention index, color index, and Mooney viscosity. Skim rubber is not permitted in any grade. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application. ASTM does not give any warranty express or implied or make any representation that the contents of this abstract are accurate, complete or up to date. Significance and Use The general end-use quality of manufactured rubber products depends on the physical and chemical properties of the rubber. 1. Scope 1.1 This specification covers minimum physical and chemical quality requirements or specifications for five grades of raw natural rubber.
