Content Description

Thermal Bridging & Thermal Break Solutions, 2024
CEU: 0.125 | CEU Code: FA-EN-145207-0425

The need to evaluate thermal bridging in a building's design and performance has become more prevalent because of the increasing requirements for more energy-efficient buildings. This course provides an introduction to thermal bridging, energy code requirements, and the use of thermal break solutions designed to improve energy efficiency in the building envelope.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the purpose and benefits of energy codes and how they impact the increasing demands for sustainable building.
  • Define thermal bridging and identify potential connections and bridging paths that will lead to excessive thermal transfer, causing condensation and negative impacts to occupant comfort and health.
  • Explain the effects of thermal bridging on energy efficiency and consumption and the difference between R-values and U-values regarding conductivity in series and parallel.
  • Discuss how thermal break solutions can be incorporated into the building envelope details not only to mitigate effects of thermal bridging, but also to create a healthier building.

Faculty BIO

Naji Hajje holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Boston University. At Fabreeka International Inc. for 16 years, Naji works with customers, distributors, sales team and OEM to customize vibration and shock control solutions. As the Engineering Manager, Naji is responsible for product and application training, application engineering, R&D and new product launches.

As Quality Manager, Naji works with customers and vendors quality department, maintains ISO 9001:2015 certification and product testing.

As Fabreeka has focused on the building and construction segment in recent years, Naji supports the efforts by launching new products to expand the Fabreeka-TIM portfolio. He continues to promote thermal break products, expansion bearings and bearing pads used in this segment through internal training and supporting customer presentation efforts.
