Commercial Planters: Selection Considerations & Material Options, 2023
CEU: 0.125 | CEU Code: CA-EN-121101-0323

Commercial planters add interest to both commercial and residential spaces. An understanding of materials and options available when specifying planters is an essential tool for both designers and architects. These topics are addressed in this course along with discussions on the applications of commercial planters and the benefits they offer in the design of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify common uses of commercial planters (including security barriers and green roof applications) and how environmental design can positively impact people's health.
  • State the selection factors to consider to help ensure the correct product is specified for each application.
  • Discuss some common materials used in the manufacture of commercial planters, and explain how each is produced.
  • Identify the features and limitations of each material in terms of durability, versatility, maintenance needs, and design possibilities to help determine which option(s) will satisfy project requirements.
