Stepstone, LLC. Stairs are often a prominent feature or even the focal point of an architectural design project and play a vital role in creating an aesthetically pleasing interior atmosphere, or an exterior welcoming point to a residential, commercial, or industrial building. This course provides an overview of the many benefits of installing precast concrete stair treads and landings, how to detail and specify them, and how to address related building code, design, and construction requirements. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Define stair-related terminology, and identify the individual components and hardware used to construct a staircase.
  • Discuss the advantages of installing precast concrete stair treads in terms of aesthetics, durability, safety, and fire protection.

Faculty BIO

Patricia Muldoon has worked for Stepstone, Inc. for the past 40 years. She has been involved in the development of the Precast Stairtread line since the beginning'from a simple weld-on plank of reinforced concrete to the highly engineered structural and architectural line of stairway products of today. This robust and evolved line has found widespread acceptance in residential, institutional, and commercial applications. During her long career in the precast industry, she has been involved in the AIA, CSI, ASLA, and the BIS. Having a huge store of knowledge in the business, Patty has been solving customers' challenges for four decades.
